Alison
Pope set up the Baby Buddies playgroup 9 years ago in Causeway Bay.
Parents from Alison’s Letterland Child Care Centre were so impressed
with their services that they wanted their younger siblings to attend
the class. As Letterland was only able to offer classes for 2-6 year
olds Alison hit upon the idea of classes for 1 to 2 year olds,
accompanied by an adult.. The name Baby Buddies was inspired by the name
Tellie Tubbies! |

Alison took the programme that she had
introduced to the children at Letterland and adapted it to make it
appropriate for one year olds, the result was a huge success. She
started the classes in the living room of the flat she was living in,
with just five children per class and a year later renovated the whole
flat to offer premises for ten children per class….after that Baby
Buddies just grew and grew and grew. In October 2004 Baby Buddies moved
to it’s new premises in Tin Hau, installed web cameras for parents to
view their child in action, started the Baby Buddies Step 2 programme
and a new class for babies from 6 months ‘Tiny Tots’. |

In January 2006 Alison’s husband, Sven
Euler, joined the Baby Buddies family and contributed his IT and
decoration skills and January 2007 Baby Buddies two opened in Tuen Mun.
Alison was delighted that an ex employee, Clare, who was back in the UK
was able to return and run the new Baby Buddies.The programme ran like
clock work and Tuen Mun and the Gold Coast rushed to Baby Buddies in
droves! Classes already have waiting lists. |

Alison and Sven are busy preparing for Baby
Buddies Sheung Wan to open in early 2008 and look forward to offering
their unique services to more children in Hong Kong. What makes Baby
