Baby Buddies International Playgroup – Alison’s Letterland International Kindergarten ‘’ A child centred approach to learning where your child leads the way.’’ We would like to welcome you and your child to the very best possible start in pre-school education.  Operating since 1996 our playgroups and Kindergarten set the standard of excellence in International schooling.  We have an excellent reputation for being extremely caring and friendly schools and creating our own unique sense of community, not easily found in HK. Founded by Alison Pope, a qualified Nursery school teacher since 1989, her ethos and beliefs in pre-school education have been successfully  delivered to children all over Hong Kong; giving them the foundation and confidence in a life long journey of learning. Alison and her husband Sven successfully manage four schools in Hong Kong, along with their outstanding team of Early Years International teachers, a unique family-based school in Hong Kong with exceptional staff ratios.   Our mission philosophy We provide an outstanding child-centred approach to pre-school education which is achieved in a friendly, family environment that nurtures a community feeling where the curiosity and a child’s love of learning is met within an International setting. Our mission is to imbue each and every one of our students with a lifetime love of learning and to encourage them to become confident, responsible and effective contributors to society. We believe that every child is a competent learner from birth and every child should be treated with respect and as an individual. Our Education Programme. Our individual and unique learning programme is based on the British National curriculum EYFS from birth to 5 years old and the learning tree of life. The Early Years Foundation Stage is a comprehensive statutory framework that sets the standards of the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.  All our teachers use the EYFS to ensure that whichever setting our parents choose they can be confident that their child will receive a quality experience that supports their learning and development. The philosophy of the EYFS emphasizes that learning for young children should be centred on activities that are fun, interesting and motivating. There are seven areas of the EYFS learning and development that are covered in all of our classes: ·

Communication and language ·         Physical development ·         Personal Social and emotional development ·         Literacy ·         Mathematics ·         Understanding the world ·         Expressive art and design   The learning tree of life Incorporated into the British National curriculum EYFS is our unique child-centred ‘learning tree of life’ programme with experiences for all the family for children from 3 months to five years old.  Your child starts at the roots of their learning and blossoms to give them the very best possible start in pre-school education. The learning tree of life programme allows children to play, explore, to become active learners and to create and think critically. The programme is introduced to our students at Baby Buddies and continues on through our pre-primary classes at Letterland. How does the programme work? Baby Buddies and Pre-Nursery classes choose an individual leaf and along with their parents contribute a picture to our theme for the month. The class teacher will choose a leaf to start the topic, thereafter the topic leads into the real life experiences of the children’s choice. This is continued at Letterland with class teacher’s observations and then relating topics to the child’s real life experiences in play. Activities and experiences are chosen by the children and are guided by the teacher in order to provide an optimal learning environment.
